Damodar Valley Corporation was established on 7 July 1948 as India’s first multipurpose river valley project. Created to support flood control, irrigation, power generation, and regional development across the Damodar Valley, DVC has played an important role in the growth of eastern India.

With decades of experience in power generation, water resource management, and infrastructure development, DVC brings strong technical expertise and operational strength to the DVC–CIL joint venture.

DVC–CIL Power Private Limited

A strategic joint venture for reliable and future-ready power infrastructure.

DVC–CIL Power Private Limited is a 50:50 joint venture between Damodar Valley Corporation and Coal India Limited, formed to develop a 1,600 MW ultra-supercritical thermal power project at Chandrapura, Bokaro, Jharkhand.

The joint venture combines DVC’s power generation expertise with CIL’s resource strength to support India’s growing energy needs. Through this partnership, DVC–CIL aims to strengthen baseload power capacity, promote regional development, create employment opportunities, and contribute to industrial growth through reliable and efficient power infrastructure.
